Dormant Accounts Grant Scheme

What is the Dormant Accounts Grant Scheme?

This scheme provides funding to projects and programmes designed to alleviate poverty and social deprivation. In particular the scheme is aimed at:
  • Those affected by economic and social disadvantage
  • Those affected by educational disadvantage
  • Persons with a disability

Many of the Dormant Accounts funding measures are administered on behalf of the Department by Pobal, an independent not for profit company with charitable status that manages programmes on behalf of the Irish Government and the EU. For further information, visit www.pobal.ie.

In 2007, Offaly Sports Partnership secured €33,000 from this fund for projects to increase particpation of disadvantaged young people in sport. Under this scheme, five projects were funded with grants ranging from €6,000 to €9,000.
