    Irish Olympic Handball Association: High Performance Director

    The Irish Olympic Handball Association is currently recruiting for two key positions in relation to national teams. These are High Performance Director and National Team Coach. Full Job Descriptions and Application details are below.

     

    High Performance Director (HPD):

    The role of the HPD is vital in implementing systems and strucutures to allow the national team to realise their potential on the court. Working closely with the High Performance Program Committee, you will be responsible for developing, producing and implementing a high performance plan alligned to the Strategic Plan of the IOHA using the Irish Institute of Sport template. This is a consultancy based role which will require quarterly reports to the board of the IOHA.

    This role will ideally suit someone already in fulltime employment, with a proven track record in the area of high performance in sport. Handball experience and knowledge is desirable, but not essential as this is a compotencies based role.

    Do you enjoy a challenge? The Irish team needs an experienced professional coach to lead them up to the next tier of handball in Europe. Beginning with European Championship pre-qualification tournaments in summer 2012, this role will culminate in Ireland taking the court in World Championship Qualifiers in 2014.

    The squad is a mixture of experienced and young players who are ambitious as a group and hungry to learn. The National Team Coach will be supported with a National Team Coordinator, Fitness Coach, Medical Team, Sports Psychologist and Administration support from the IOHA.

    Job Description

    • Responsible to: Chief Executive Officer
    • Contract Duration: 50 Week Fixed Term, renewable subject to funding

    Background:

    Cycling Ireland (CI) is the National Governing Body for the sport of cycling in Ireland. CI has an opportunity for an Operations Manager to join a vibrant organisation catering for the needs of a rapidly growing sport. In the first instance this role is for one year, subject to further funding the role will be reviewed and renewed on an annual basis.

     

    Operations Manager:

    The Operations Manager will be principally responsible for the provision and management of membership, financial and day to day office functions.

    Duties will include:

    • Staff management;
    • Production of monthly accounts;
    • Production of management reports;
    • Oversee the delivery of membership services;
    • Management of service providers contracts;
    • Assist CEO with funding applications;
    • Assist CEO to broaden range of membership benefits and seek new sponsorship opportunities;

    Main responsibilities:

    The duties of the office will be such as may be assigned from time to time by the County Manager, Director of Community & Enterprise, and/ or the Local Sports Partnership Board. The Sports Co-Ordinator will report to the Director of Community & Enterprise, Monaghan County Council.

    The primary function of the post-holder is to co-ordinate the activities of the partnership and the individual partners' contributions to ensure the promotion and development of sport at local level. The post-holder is also responsible for the day-to-day operations of the partnership along with record management and financial control. The role will also include elements of strategic planning and marketing.

    The Local Sports Co-ordinator will also act as the Secretary to the Local Sports Partnership.

    Basketball Ireland - Work Experience/Volunteers

    January marks the biggest basketball event on the calendar with the Schools Cup and National Cup Finals taking place at the National Basketball Arena January 24th-29th. Basketball Ireland, the National Governing Body of basketball, are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help with various positions throughout the week and weekend. Roles and responsibilites include team liaison, court stewarding, media and marketing assistance, retail managment, floor wipers, security and catering.


    The Schools Cup Finals run from 9 am - to 5 pm January 24th, 25th & 26th while the National Cup Finals take place Friday evening, January 27th and all day Saturday and Sunday (January 28th & 29th) at the National Basketball Arena.


    This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to get involved with basketball or has a desire to gain valuable experience and insight to the structure and running of a basketball event. All ages are welcome to volunteer and suitable positions will be found for each applicant.
