Offaly Olympian to Manage Paralympics Ireland Athletics Team

Offaly's James Nolan has been selected as Paralympics Ireland Athletics Team Manager for the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

The two time Olympian and native of Tullamore was appointed Head of Paralympic Athletics in early 2010. He now leads the Paralympics Athletics Programme, and led the Irish team to great success at the 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships in January in Christchurch, New Zealand, with the Irish team of eight returning with two gold and one silver medal. 

James commented, "I am delighted to be selected for the games and look forward to seeing the Irish athletes challenging for the podium in London following the recent successes at world level."

Paralympics Ireland also announced team managers for football 7-a-side, cycling, swimming and rowing.

Liam Harbison CEO of Paralympics Ireland added, "We are delighted to confirm the first group of team managers for London 2012 and look forward to seeing the success these highly talented and experienced managers can bring to their sports at the Games."

Further team manager appointments will be made by Paralympics Ireland in due course in the sports of boccia, equestrian, sailing and table tennis.
