NTA and Offaly Sports Partnership / Offaly County Council launch Bike Week 2024

Activities run from Saturday May 11th to Sunday May 19th

The National Transport Authority (NTA) and Offaly Sports Partnership / Offaly County Council have today announced details of Bike Week 2024, which runs from Saturday May 11th to Sunday May 19th. This annual event celebrates the many benefits of cycling with over 900 events scheduled nationwide. From family-friendly activities to heritage cycles, maintenance workshops, and learn-to-cycle events, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

All 31 local authority areas are participating in Bike Week, with events organized in collaboration with local sports partnerships. 

Among the events planned in Co. Offaly are: -

1. Second annual Grand Canal Greenway Cycle Relay from Edenderry to Ferbane along 55km of the Grand Canal Greenway. This event is being delivered as a stages event where people can join at any of the changeover points: -

  • George’s Bridge, Edenderry at 9am
  • Toberdaly Bridge, Rhode at 10am
  • Molesworth Bridge, Daingean at 11am
  • Digby Bridge, Cappincur, Tullamore at 12.15pm
  • The Thatch at Rahan at 1.30pm
  • Plunkett Bridge, Pollagh at 2.30pm

2. Local cycling clubs are also organising events in Daingean, Tullamore and Ferbane
