Go for Life is an Age and Opportunity initiative, funded by the Irish Sports Council. It runs in partnership with the Health Service Executive Health Promotion Units and the Local Sports Partnerships, and is the national programme for sports and physical activity for older people in Ireland.
The participants attended eight workshops covering a wide range of activities which they then brought back and delivered to their groups. Workshops included sit fit, better balance, going strong, stepping and strolling, rolling and bowling, and pitching and tossing activities. Participants from as far afield as Naas Active Retirement Group and as close to home as Ballykilmurry Active Retirement Group attended the course. Huge thanks to Barbara, Valerie, Cavina and Margaret from Go for Life who delivered the workshops in May and October.
A refresher and dance taster workshop hosted by Offaly Sports Partnership and the Health Service Executive Health Promotion Unit, and tutored by staff from Go for Life will take place on the 9th November from 10am to 3pm in St Mary’s Youth and Community Centre.
