Edenderry RFC spreading rugby through schools

Over the past few months Edenderry Rugby Club, in partnership with the Leinster Branch of the IRFU have had Club Community Rugby Officer Patsy Gorman coaching Tag Rugby within many schools in Offaly, Kildare and Meath.

The coaching is for boys and girls from first class and up to first year secondary school students. It is proving a big hit with the kids within the schools and the support from teachers has been great.

No previous rugby experience is needed to play tag rugby and it is an all inclusive sport for boys and girls mixed. It is a non contact sport and is mainly about running, passing and agility.

It compliments a whole range of other sports including gaelic games and soccer. The most important thing about the game is that it encourages children from all sporting backgrounds to participate together in mixed teams.

Edenderry RFC will be continuing its Tag Rugby programme within local schools over the coming months and look forward to the continuing support from the schools and staff
