‘Call for Input’ on the development of a national volunteering strategy.

 10 Dec 2018

The Department of Rural and Community Development have published a ‘Call for Input’ on the development of a national volunteering strategy.

The document poses a number of questions on the current state of volunteering in Ireland, the challenges faced by volunteers and organisations and how we can develop the future of volunteering. Answers to these questions will inform the development of a national volunteering strategy.

Volunteer Ireland and the network of Volunteer Centres and Volunteering Information Services have been advocating for a national volunteering strategy for many years and this ‘Call for Input’ is the first step in this process. We encourage anyone with an interest in volunteering to read the document and submit their feedback by 14th February.

The document is comprehensive, containing 44 questions. For some tips on responding to the consultation, and advice on key questions if you only have time to answer a few, you can visit this page

In order to inform our own responses to this ‘Call for Input’ Volunteer Ireland and Volunteer Centres will be hosting regional and local consultation meetings with volunteers and volunteer involving organisations. So you can feed into our submission to the strategy by attending one of our meetings. We will let you know when and where your nearest consultation is, in the coming weeks.

The deadline for submissions is 14th February.
