Offaly Sports Partnership issues call for expressions of interest to establish additional Community Sport & Physical Activity Hubs in Offaly

With support from Dormant Accounts, Sport Ireland has in recent years provided funding to local sports partnerships to establish community based sport and physical activity hubs in communities in every county in Ireland.

Sports hubs by their very nature seek to create opportunities for all in a community to participate in sport and physical activity regardless of age, background or ability.

In the past five years, Offaly Sports Partnership has secured dormant account funding to establish two Hubs in Offaly: -

  1. South Offaly sports hub – operating out of the Crinkle Sport & Recreation Centre, this Hub is an area based community sports Hub which supports delivery of sport and physical activity opportunities for people within south Offaly. In particular, this hub has sought to provide outreach sport, physical activity and fitness programmes in schools in south Offaly. It has also helped increase usage of the sports facilities in Crinkle.
  2. Daingean sports hub – a newly established Hub (2021) operating out of the Daingean GAA community sports hall, this Hub is an area / site based community sports Hub supporting the delivery of sport and physical activity opportunities for people within Daingean and its surrounds
