FitLine call for Offaly participants

 08 Sep 2021

FitLine is Age & Opportunity’s volunteer telephone support line designed to help those over the age of  50  who want to feel a bit fitter and healthier, but perhaps don’t have the motivation, confidence or information on where or how to take that first step. The service is completely free.

We’re encouraging people to free phone 1800 303 545 and learn more. After you’ve made  that first call, a FitLine mentor will arrange a time to ring you every two weeks until you’re happy with your progress.

FitLine mentors are volunteers who understand the challenges of getting active. They’ll give you information, advice and gentle encouragement to get moving, along with updates on what is happening in your local community.

As we move into the colder months it is important to keep active in any way we can. FitLine mentors are able to offer guidance for each individual’s needs. For those who are working it’s important to make time for yourself to exercise and calls are planned  to suit your busy schedule.

Recommendations from some of our FitLine participants:

Having that social connection FitLine provides, has been invaluable during this time, and the motivation and support are wonderful,” said Bridie, Dublin

I have been with FitLine for a few years and it gives me a great lift to get a phone call every couple of weeks. They have good advice. I live on my own and I love having someone from FitLine ring me regularly,” said Joe, Dublin

FitLine gave me the push I needed to stop making excuses to get up and get active,” said Anne, Cork.

With thanks for support and funding from Sport Ireland and Healthy Ireland’s Keep Well Campaign.
