The "Period Poverty in Ireland" report was published in February 2021; and found that between 53,000 and 85,000 women are at risk of period poverty in Ireland.
The current "National Strategy for Women and Girls" has provided a framework in which to address this issue with Local Authorities and other agencies now in a position to provide free period products in local authority buildings, community, education and sporting venues.
Healthy Offaly, through funding received from the Department of Health, now provide free period products in various locations for those that need them; while Sport Ireland have also supported the delivery of a "HER Moves Period Positive" campaign for teenage girls.
