Football Talent Days for players with Down syndrome - FAI, DSI and Tsenya

 23 Sep 2019

Keeping fit and healthy is a fun thing to do. Refining your football skills by playing Futsal with peers, promises to lift the spirits whilst forming lifetime friendships. A unique opportunity has arisen for our Irish players with Down syndrome.

The Trisome Games 2020 will be held in Turkey from 31 March to 7 April - hosting teams with Down Syndrome from over 50 countries in eight sports.

Down Syndrome Ireland, in association with the FAI and Tsenya, are considering entering a Futsal team to represent Ireland at this prestigious event.  Football trials will be held during October and November in various locations.

The first trial will take place in Waterford, with Cork, Galway and Dublin to follow.  We call upon all football players with Down syndrome to join us at the trials.  You might be playing mainstream football or in any other programs and be eligible to participate.   The Trisome Games raises awareness around the exceptional sporting abilities of people with Down syndrome.  It could be you who gets the chance to represent your country against your peers on the international stage.

For Ireland to be able to compete at an international level, we are looking for skilled, talented and sporty players from both genders.  If you play football regularly and are over 16 years of age you are invited to complete the entry form at this link and to attend one of our open days listed.
