Offaly Sports Partnership Announces Grant Schemes

Cllr Robert Mc Dermott, Chair Offaly Sports Partnership, this week launched two grant schemes for sports clubs and organisations in Offaly

The first scheme is a "Club Development Grant" scheme; and this grant scheme is designed to support: -

  1. mid to long term club planning
  2. education & training programmes 
  3. initiatives designed to increase the participation of underrepresented groups  (including older adults, people with a disability, people of an ethnic minority background including Travellers, people experiencing rural or urban disadvantage, the unemployed / under employed, women and girls, and youth at risk) in sport
  4. the purchase of non-personal training equipment to support return to sport programmes

 . Please note: -

  • applications can only be accepted from Offaly based affiliates of a National Governing Body of Sport recognised by Sport Ireland 
  • only one application can be submitted per sports club; and the application must adhere to a minimum of one of the four objectives of the grant scheme
  • funding applications must be submitted by 9pm on Sunday, 24th April 2022 via the application form link as noted here, https://submit.link/Pp
  • the maximum level of grant assistance per successful application will be €1,500

The second scheme relates to the "Resumption of Sporting Activity" scheme following Covid19; and this fund will be made available to support the return to sport and physical activity post pandemic. Please note this is a restricted fund; and is only open to the following clubs and organisations: -

  1. affiliates of the following national governing bodies of sport recognised by Sport Ireland based in Offaly - Angling Council of Ireland, Badminton Ireland, Irish Wheelchair Association Sport, Motor Cycling Ireland, National Coarse Fishing Federation, National Community Games, Pitch & Putt Ireland, Snooker & Billiards Ireland, Table Tennis Ireland, Tennis Ireland, Trout Anglers Association of Ireland, Tug of War Ireland and Volleyball Ireland
  2. clubs / organisations in Offaly that cater for special interest groups whose core activity is sport related (Offaly based community centres and similar organisations are included within this categorisation subject to them operating as not for profit)

The maximum level of grant assistance per successful application will be €1,500. The grant can be put toward costs associated with resumption of sporting activity including purchase of non-personal training equipment, return to sport programmes, programmes reaching target groups of Offaly Sports Partnership (including older adults, people with a disability, people of an ethnic minority background including Travellers, people experiencing rural or urban disadvantage, the unemployed / under employed, women and girls, and youth at risk), promotion and marketing costs, some essential running costs including insurance and affiliation, Covid consumables, volunteer supports, etc.

In launching the schemes Councillor Mc Dermott said,

“Offaly Sports Partnership is delighted to launch these grant schemes for clubs and organisations in Co Offaly. While the Sports Partnership’s funding is limited, we would nonetheless encourage clubs and organisations to apply”
