Join ParkRun for its ParkRun Resolution

 04 Jan 2021

What will your #parkrunresolution be?

As we get ready to welcome in a new year, ParkRun would love for you to make your own #parkrunresolution and join ParkRun for a special eight week campaign. Here’s everything you need to know.

There’s no doubt that 2020 has been an incredibly challenging year and, now more than ever before, we need opportunities to nurture ourselves and the communities around us. Through the #parkrunresolution, we want to support you to do just that, whoever you are, wherever you are in the world.

Launching today, Monday 4th January 2021, the ParkRun Resolution is an eight week campaign with not one, but two points of celebration!

The first will be a week-long celebration at the halfway point. During the week commencing 25th January, the ParkRun Resolution community will come together and applaud everyone for how far they’ve come. ParkRun Resolutioners can also set a benchmark to inspire them for the remainder of the campaign. It’s a point in time for reflection, and to measure incredible ongoing success.

The second will be the culmination of the ParkRun Resolution during the week beginning 22nd February. Another entire week of positivity, physical activity, the great outdoors and lots of 5ks in the form of parkruns and (not)parkruns alike, wherever you are in the world. We’ll be shining a light on everyone’s achievements, sharing stories of success, and hopefully welcoming a whole host of newcomers to the parkrun family.

Whether you want to take your first steps to a more active future, commit to supporting friends or family members to walk or run that little bit more, or improve your own 5k time, why not make this your #parkrunresolution?

By that time, it might be that parkrun events have restarted close to you, in which case maybe you could commit to taking part as a walker or runner, or as a valued volunteer. If you are missing your weekly parkrun fix, perhaps you could pledge to help people in your community set and achieve a new goal or make a family resolution to get outside and move that little bit more.

Maybe you could offer to walk a neighbour’s dog on a regular basis, or invest time in your own health and wellbeing by using your lunch breaks to do a short walk, jog or run.

Perhaps you are an experienced parkrunner and want to improve your 5k time and can join with others who can support you in achieving that dream? If you’re not one of the lucky ones who have a parkrun event to participate in, you can always record your achievement via (not)parkrun.

This is your goal, your #parkrunresolution.

During the eight weeks we will be providing you with huge doses of encouragement, guidance and motivation, and would love to see you also share that #parkrunresolution passion with everyone you meet, whether that is in person or virtually. We would love to know what you are planning, and how we might help you achieve it.

Although local guidelines might still require social distancing, there is still plenty that we can all do to come together. So why not join thousands of others around the world in setting your own #parkrunresolution for 2021.

We can’t wait to see what you and your communities can achieve!
