Family friendly cycling in Offaly and its surrounds - Lough Boora Parklands

Bike Week takes place from the 11th to 19th May 2024. Offaly is hosting a number of events from our inaugural Grand Canal Greenway Relay on Saturday, 18th May to school / club cycle days and lunchtime cycles throughout the week Many thanks to the various cycling clubs across the county who are supporting Bike Week in Offaly. 

Activities run from Saturday May 10th to Sunday May 18th  

Bike Week is a celebration of active travel, sustainable transport and simply the joys of cycling a bike! “It’s Easy, It’s fun and it’s for everyone” 

Jude Feehan, Chair, Offaly Sports Partnership, this week announced that 24 clubs in Offaly are to benefit from its club development grant scheme 2025. The total fund available across this year’s grant scheme was €12,000.

Sport Ireland wants to keep young members involved in the sports they love, by listening to their opinions and acting on them. To do this, the Ethics and Integrity Unit at Sport Ireland is creating a Young Voices in Sport Focus Group.

Offaly County Council on behalf of Offaly Sports Partnership is seeking applications from suitably qualified persons for the role of "Child & Youth Coach" (specified purpose contract, 2 year fixed term)

Sport Ireland has officially launched its Period Positive Poster Pack.  

Award recipient, Jude Feehan of Offaly Community Games, with partner Fiona Shannon, Liam O'Reilly and Denise Coghill of Offaly Sports Partnership receiving his award at the Volunteers in Sport Awards 2024, hosted by the Federation of Irish Sport and supported by the national network of 29 local sports partnerships, at The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Blanchardstown, Dublin

The Department of Arts, Media, Communications, Culture & Sport and Sport Ireland have announced the Government will invest €31.3m in the sport sector including National Governing Bodies for Sport (NGBs), the network of Local Sports Partnerships (LSPs), and other funded bodies for 2025.

Sport Ireland is reminding people to get ready for Women in Sport Week, which runs from Monday, March 3 to Sunday, March 9, and this year celebrates its fifth anniversary. 

Jude Feehan, Chair Offaly Sports Partnership, this week launched the 2025 Club Development Grant Scheme for sports clubs based in Offaly who are affiliated to a National Governing Body of Sport recognised by Sport Ireland.

The Federation of Irish Sport proudly announces the recipients of the 2024 Volunteers in Sport Awards, recognising 35 outstanding volunteers from every county in Ireland (four in Dublin) for their tireless dedication to sport and physical activity in their local communities. These inspiring individuals will be celebrated at a special ceremony on Friday, 28th February 2025, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Blanchardstown. The prestigious Outstanding Achievement Award, which highlights one individual’s extraordinary contribution to Irish sport will be revealed on the day.
